Dakota County CDA and Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board to Host Event for Employers

The Dakota County CDA and Dakota-Scott Workforce Investment Board (WIB) will be hosting a free workshop for local employers.

The Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) will be accepting applications for the Housing Choice Voucher (aka Section 8) Program waiting list from Wednesday, April 22, 2015 beginning at 8 a.m. through Friday, April 24, 2015 at 12 p.m. (noon). Applications will be accepted online only at www.waitlistcheck.com/MN2732.

Where to Apply
Applicants may apply online using any device with internet access, including:

  • Computers or laptops
  • Tablets
  • Smart phones
  • Computers available at public libraries
  • Computers available at the CDA’s office, located at 1228 Town Centre Drive, Eagan, MN 55123.

The head of household applicant must have:

  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number

The online application can be translated into more than 60 different languages.

Important Notes

  • Applicants needing a reasonable accommodation must submit a written request to the CDA no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015.-
  • There is no advantage to applying on the first day applications are available. As long as your application is completed by 12 p.m. on Friday, April 24, it will be included in the random drawing for waiting list applicant selection. 
  • If you are currently on other CDA housing waiting lists, you must apply separately for the Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list.

Waiting List Selection
The CDA will randomly select:

  • 2,500 applicants for the Housing Choice Voucher waiting list.
  • 700 eligible applicants for the Housing Choice Voucher Project Based waiting lists.
  • 95% of applicants selected will meet Dakota County preference requirements (live, work or attend school full-time in Dakota County) and 5% will be non-preference.

Program Information
The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance for low- and moderate-income households. Program participants pay a minimum of 30% of their monthly adjusted income toward rent and the program provides the difference between the participants rent portion and the contract rent.

There are a limited number of vouchers that are set aside for Project Based assistance. These vouchers are designated for two properties – one in Apple Valley and one in Eagan – that serve families that meet household size requirements and program income limits.
